OpenAI Launches AI Powered Browser
OpenAI just launched ChatGPT Atlas, an AI powered browser.
It’s “Agent Mode” is getting quite powerful at automating online task. I feed it through the gauntlet here:
Key Features
Integrated ChatGPT assistant – ChatGPT lives in a sidebar and can chat about the current page, summarize content, answer questions and provide contextual insights in real time. This split‑screen design keeps the AI visible next to webpages.
Browser memories – Atlas can optionally remember the sites you visit and the things you do, creating personal “memories” that help ChatGPT offer smarter suggestions and recall past research). These memories are private, and users can view, archive or delete them at any time, or turn the feature off entirely.
Agent mode – The browser’s agent mode lets ChatGPT perform tasks on your behalf, such as researching information, comparing products, planning events or booking reservations. In preview at launch, it’s available to Plus, Pro and Business subscribers.
Time will tell if this will become a “daily driver” for people, but my initial impressions are that it’s very powerful. It just might become my default browser.
