Watch The First Demo Of Buzzy Startup Humane's Wearable AI Assistant In Leaked Clips

Humane, a startup founded by ex-Apple employees, has revealed a wearable gadget with a projected display and AI-powered features designed to serve as a personal assistant. The device was demoed by co-founder Imran Chaudhri during a TED Talk, and is described as being “built entirely from the ground up for artificial intelligence” and “completely standalone”. It responds to voice and gesture commands, and can project a screen onto nearby surfaces. It includes a camera which can identify objects and is able to translate spoken sentences. However, it remains to be seen whether it can compete with the quick access and privacy offered by smartphones.

Creepy ChatGPT Robot EVE Looks Like This - And Will Take Over Jobs

OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, has invested $23.5 million in 1X, a Norway-based engineering and robotics firm that is creating androids capable of human-like movements and behaviors. The robots are powered by state-of-the-art AI systems and one of them, named EVE, was initially designed as a research bot but has since been repurposed as a security droid. Due to her precise locomotion, EVE could also potentially work in the labor force, which is already being automated in many sectors. OpenAI's funding will also support the production of NEO, a mannequin-looking bot that will allow researchers to explore how AI manifests itself in a humanoid form. This new reality of more human-like robots could be closer than ever, and they may be able to have naturalistic back-and-forth conversations with humans.

Access GPT-4 For Free: Forefront Chat, Developed By US-based AI Start-up, Offers Instant Response

New York-based AI start-up, Forefront AI, has launched Forefront Chat, a tool that allows users to access GPT-4 for free, along with other features such as image generation, custom personas, and shareable chats. Users can toggle between GPT-4 and GPT-3.5 using the Plus button on the input box. To use the tool, users simply need to log onto chat.forefront.ai and create an account. Although the website has not given instructions on how to create images, users can use prompts such as #Imagine to generate images. Forefront Chat worked at a similar pace to regular ChatGPT, and the images generated were not of great quality. GPT-4 is the latest iteration of OpenAI’s large language model and is claimed to be faster, more efficient, and more powerful than GPT-3. It is accessible only to users who have subscribed to ChatGPT Plus.

Consensus Raises $3M, Partners With OpenAI To Revolutionize Scientific Web Search

Consensus, an AI-powered search engine designed for scientific research, has raised $3m in seed funding. The search engine uses AI technology to deliver expert knowledge from 200 million scientific and academic research papers, providing plain-language summaries of results. The partnership with OpenAI has allowed Consensus to generate a plain-language summary of results, helping users navigate large volumes of information and make informed decisions. The "Consensus Meter" also provides a percentage-based assessment of the veracity of answers to yes-or-no questions. Legacy expert/academic search engines such as Google Scholar have not innovated in decades, according to Consensus.

Google's Bard AI Chatbot Can Now Help You Code And Create Functions For Google Sheets

Google's AI chatbot, Bard, has been updated to assist developers in writing and debugging code, generating code, and explaining lines of code. Bard can even write functions for Google Sheets in over 20 programming languages. While Google admits that Bard may sometimes provide inaccurate or misleading information, it is pushing ahead with the chatbot despite reports that employees have criticized it as a "pathological liar." In tests comparing Bard to rivals Bing and ChatGPT, it was found to be less accurate. Developers are advised to double-check Bard's responses and thoroughly test and review code before relying on it.

Why Everyone Is Talking About Generative AI, Not Just The Experts

Generative AI has been making remarkable strides in generating natural-looking images and fluent text, which explains why it is causing a stir among the public. Three reasons for this are: first, it is intuitive to understand, as it generates natural-looking images or coherent prose; second, it is an impressive feat, as it emulates intelligence by generating something rather than just selecting the right answer; third, it allows for conditional generation, or the ability to create something based on another thing as context. While it has many valuable use cases, it still needs to be tested for its potential applications and utility. The aim is to build foundational tools for building intelligent systems and processes that are intuitive and applicable and can be put into the hands of the broadest class of developers, builders, and innovators possible.
