DANGEROUS "EMOJI HACK": AI models susceptible to 'trojan horse' emojis…
A smiley face emoji has become a potential threat to AI security. Through the use of invisible Unicode characters called variation selectors, hidden messages can be encoded within emojis.
This allows for prompt injections, where an AI model is tricked into executing commands, like responding with specific words. Such vulnerabilities highlight the need for stronger AI security measures, as they can be exploited for malicious purposes in AI interactions.
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman outlined plans for GPT-4.5 and GPT-5, aiming to simplify the company’s AI offerings. GPT-4.5, internally called Orion, will be OpenAI’s last non-chain-of-thought model. GPT-5 will integrate multiple technologies, with different intelligence levels for free, Plus, and Pro ChatGPT users. Altman hinted at a release in the coming months. Meanwhile, OpenAI rejected Elon Musk’s $97.4 billion buyout bid.
Anthropic projects revenue growth from $2.2 billion in 2025 to $34.5 billion by 2027, aiming to surpass OpenAI in API sales. The company burned $5.6 billion in 2024 but expects to cut that by nearly half in 2025. It seeks $2 billion in funding at a $58 billion valuation. Meanwhile, OpenAI leads with $44 billion projected revenue for 2027 and more efficient cash management.
OpenAI updated its Model Spec to enhance AI behavior, prioritizing transparency, customizability, and intellectual freedom while maintaining safeguards against harm. The new version refines alignment principles, ensures AI remains objective, and allows broader public input. OpenAI also open-sourced the Model Spec under a CC0 license, enabling developers to adapt it freely. Future updates will be tracked online, reinforcing AI's evolving role in society.
Snowflake partnered with Anthropic to integrate AI into corporate data systems, embedding the Claude 3.5 Sonnet model into its Cortex Agents platform. This collaboration enhances business data analysis while ensuring security compliance. Early tests show 90% accuracy in AI-powered data queries. Companies like Siemens Energy and Nissan North America have already seen significant improvements. The move signals a shift towards secure, integrated enterprise AI solutions for increased efficiency and governance.
Adobe's AI video generator, Generate Video, is now in public beta, allowing users to create five-second 1080p clips from text or images. Integrated into the Firefly web app, it offers commercial-use safety and syncs with Creative Cloud tools. Adobe introduces AI credit subscription plans starting at $9.99. Competing with OpenAI’s Sora and Google’s Veo, Adobe aims to balance quality, features, and legal security for creators.

FailSafeQA, a financial benchmark testing LLMs' resilience to query and context failures. It evaluates 24 models on robustness, context grounding, and compliance. Findings show even top models struggle with hallucinations. Palmyra-Fin-128k-Instruct was most compliant, while OpenAI o3-mini was most robust but prone to fabrication.
OpenAI explores how reinforcement learning improves LLMs in coding and reasoning. OpenAI’s o3 model outperforms a domain-specific system (o1-ioi) at IOI 2024, achieving a gold medal without handcrafted strategies. Findings suggest scaling general-purpose models is more effective than specialized pipelines for competitive programming and reasoning tasks.
The paper introduces a retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) framework for financial time-series forecasting. Using StockLLM and the FinSeer retriever, it enhances stock movement prediction by selecting meaningful historical patterns. FinSeer outperforms existing methods, achieving 8% higher accuracy on BIGDATA22, showcasing the power of retrieval models in financial forecasting.
CodeI/O, a method that enhances LLM reasoning by transforming code into an input-output prediction format. This exposes models to universal reasoning patterns while avoiding code-specific syntax. CodeI/O++ further improves performance through multi-turn revision, demonstrating gains across symbolic, logic, math, and commonsense reasoning tasks.
