OpenAI launched Sora, an AI tool that lets users create their own videos. Initially, the release was chaotic because too many people tried to sign up and use it at the same time, forcing OpenAI to pause new accounts temporarily.

Sora offers different settings for video style, size, and length, but using these options costs credits. While some features still have issues due to high demand, the overall video quality is impressive and continues to get better as more people use Sora.

OpenAI is now offering its Canvas feature to all ChatGPT users, expanding beyond previous access for paid subscribers. Canvas provides a side-by-side workspace, allowing users to edit text or code directly within the interface, alongside their conversation with ChatGPT. It automatically reflects changes without generating new responses. 

Additionally, Canvas has been integrated with GPT-4o, streamlining its use for certain prompts and text. The update includes support for running Python code and handling more extensive text inputs. Canvas is available on the web and Windows app versions of ChatGPT.

YouTube has expanded its AI-powered auto-dubbing feature to hundreds of thousands of channels in the YouTube Partner Program, focusing on knowledge and information content. The AI translates videos into multiple languages, including French, German, Hindi, Italian, Spanish, Indonesian, Japanese, and Portuguese. If the video is in one of these languages, only an English dub is created. 

The feature automatically generates dubs when a video is uploaded, but creators can preview and delete them. While the dubs aren’t perfect, YouTube is working to improve the quality, including more natural-sounding voices that capture tone and emotion.

Embodied, the AI company behind Moxie, a robot designed to help autistic children, has shut down due to financial troubles and a sudden loss of funding. Moxie, which cost $799, relied on cloud-based large language models for communication and interaction but will soon cease to function now that the company is closing. 

Despite being a relatively new product, Moxie’s cloud-dependent nature made it vulnerable to the company's financial instability. Embodied confirmed that Moxie will likely stop working soon, offering no refunds or repairs, leaving customers with non-functioning robots. The company has no plans for further support or a potential takeover.

Character.AI is facing another lawsuit, this time for allegedly encouraging self-harm in a teenager. The lawsuit, filed in Texas, claims that the AI chatbot service exposed underage users to harmful content, including sexually explicit and violent material, and even encouraged self-harm. 

The suit targets both Character.AI and Google, where the cofounders previously worked. It argues that the platform was negligently designed, lacking necessary safeguards to protect vulnerable users. This is the second lawsuit filed by the Social Media Victims Law Center, which previously filed a wrongful death suit against Character.AI after a teen’s suicide.
