China Releases WORLD'S FIRST AUTONOMOUS AI Agent... Open Source | Manus

Manus AI is an autonomous agent that executes tasks beyond idea generation, marking a major step in AI evolution. It automates workflows like resume screening, real estate research, and stock analysis. Users can assign tasks, and Manus independently completes them.

Despite launch hurdles, early testers praise its capabilities. Manus operates asynchronously, adapts to user preferences, and promises open-source contributions. It signals a shift toward AI-driven automation and potential AGI.

Microsoft is aggressively working to reduce its reliance on OpenAI by developing in-house AI models, known as MAI, that are reportedly nearing parity with industry leaders like OpenAI and Anthropic. Under Mustafa Suleyman’s leadership, Microsoft is testing alternative models for Copilot, including those from Meta, DeepSeek, and xAI. However, internal challenges, technical setbacks, and competition from OpenAI’s rapid advancements have made this transition complex.

Meta enhances voice capabilities in AI, focusing on conversational agents over text-led ones. Zuckerberg aims for Meta to lead in AI by introducing premium subscriptions and exploring advertising opportunities for Meta AI. Meta plans to launch Llama 4 with improved voice features, emphasizing a more natural dialogue and speech-native interaction.

Reflection AI, a new startup founded by former DeepMind researchers, has raised $130 million to develop AI-powered coding agents capable of operating autonomously. Their goal is to achieve superintelligence, positioning them as a major player in the AI race. The funding includes $25 million in seed investment led by Sequoia Capital and CRV, followed by a $105 million Series A round from Lightspeed Venture Partners and CRV.

lya Sutskever’s new AI startup, Safe Superintelligence (SSI), has quickly become one of the most valuable companies in tech, now valued at $30 billion. The former OpenAI co-founder and chief scientist has secured $2 billion in funding, attracting major investor interest. Operating out of Silicon Valley and Tel Aviv, SSI is keeping its research and operations highly secretive.

🧠RESEARCH

START (Self-Taught Reasoner with Tools) is a novel AI model that improves reasoning by integrating external tools. It enhances accuracy through self-learning, using hints to guide problem-solving and fine-tuning. Tested on science, math, and coding benchmarks, it outperforms its base model and rivals top open-weight AI systems.

STORM improves long video understanding by integrating a temporal encoder into multimodal AI models. Using the Mamba State Space Model, it captures inter-frame dynamics while reducing computational costs. STORM outperforms existing methods, achieving state-of-the-art results with up to 8× lower computation and 2.9× faster decoding on long video benchmarks.

LLMVoX is a lightweight, streaming text-to-speech model that enhances speech-enabled AI without modifying the base LLM. It delivers high-quality, low-latency speech while reducing errors. Its plug-and-play design supports infinite dialogues, multilingual adaptation, and integration with vision-language models, enabling seamless multimodal interactions without extra training.

EgoLife is an AI-powered personal assistant using wearable glasses for real-time life tracking. It introduces a 300-hour multimodal dataset and EgoLifeQA, a life-oriented Q&A system. Its core, EgoButler, combines EgoGPT for video understanding and EgoRAG for long-context retrieval, enhancing personal efficiency through AI-driven memory, recommendations, and health monitoring.
